How to Pair Your Tesla or Car HomeLink to Your Garage Door

Most modern vehicles come equipped with HomeLink—three buttons integrated into the rearview mirror or visor that let you open your garage door. While the setup is simple, security features in modern rolling-code openers can make pairing tricky.

Standard HomeLink Pairing Steps

To program your vehicle:

1. Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons in your car to clear any old codes.
2. Hold your garage remote clicker 2-3 inches from the HomeLink buttons and press both the remote and the desired HomeLink button until the car lights flash rapidly.
3. Go to your garage door opener motor and press the **Learn** button (do not hold it).
4. Within 30 seconds, return to your car and press the programmed HomeLink button 3 to 4 times until the garage door starts to move.
